: DECISION

The Applicant applies for amnesty in respect of the sabotaging of an electrical transformer and railway line at Katlehong during or about September/October 1988 and the sabotaging of a water tank at Dawn Park, Boksburg during August 1989. Both instances of sabotage were performed with the use of explosives. Nobody was injured in either incident.

The Applicant was at all material times a member of the African National Congress and a member of an uMkhonto weSizwe unit known as the "Johannes Nkosi Unit".

We are satisfied that both incidents of sabotage were carried out with a political objective as contemplated by Section 20(1)(b) of the Promotion of National Unity and Reconciliation Act, No. 34 of 1995, that the Applicant has made full disclosure and that the application complies with the requirements of the said Act.

The Applicant is therefore

GRANTED AMNESTY: in respect of

1. The sabotage of an electrical transformer and railway line at Katlehong during or about September/October 1988; and

2. the sabotage of a water tanker at Dawn Park, Boksburg, during or about August 1989.
