Operation Zero Zero

Explanation
Eight young activists were killed and at least seven were injured in explosions involving booby-trapped hand grenades in Duduza, KwaThema and Tsakane, Tvl, on 26 June 1985. The zero-timed grenades had been provided by a Vlakplaas operative purporting to be an MK operative. The operation, codenamed 'Zero Zero', had been authorised by the Minister of Law and Order. Fifteen Security Branch operatives, including the head of the Security Branch and other senior personnel, were granted amnesty for the operation.

MR MALAN: Let me just ask you a question which I have in my mind. One cannot help but wonder whether that explosion which occurred on the evening of the 4th, was that not a false flag operation which you undertook there, you didn't cause that explosion to occur yourself?
colleagues, I fully agree with them and I think that Mr Willemse who was, I believe, the most junior ranking person involved in the execution of the operation, he was a sergeant at the time at Vlakplaas, the same applies as far as he's a foot soldier is concerned, Mr Chairman. I therefore submit, ...
MR LUFF: I really cannot comment on what Mrs Hardy did, but it is possible. It is possible that there was a curfew in operation at the time, but I cannot recall that.
MR STUART: What did you then do to put that plan into operation?
