As a member of the Umkhonto Wesizwe, the military wing of the African National Congress (ANC), the applicant infiltrated South Africa in 1985. In 1990 he assisted in setting up the Self - Defence Units (SDUs) in order to defend the communities, mostly supporters and/or members of the ANC. With him he brought an unknown amount of firearms together with the necessary ammunition. These he distributed during the course of his activities of the SDUs. He now applies for amnesty in terms of Act 34 of 1995 as amended accordingly.

We are satisfied that he has complied with the requirements of tha Act and amnesty is GRANTED in respect of the unlawful possession and distribution of firearms and ammunition.
