Two former generals echoed these sentiments this week. Again, they concentrated on the atrocities and strategies of the resistance movements with lots of statistics and death tolls. But they were silent about the victims and consequences of their own actions. Major- General Deon Mortimer presented the Defence Force’s submission to the Truth Commission. And former police commissioner Gen Johan van der Merwe addressed the Amnesty Committee on behalf of five security policemen.
