Special Report Transcripts for Section 1 of Episode 62
Time | Summary | | 00:12 | There have been many women before the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Till now they have been in the background speaking mainly about human rights violations against loved ones. This week, a special session in Cape Town was dedicated to hearing the stories of women who have been directly affected by detention and torture. The Cape Town session also heard the story of the militant history of Bonteheuwel, a coloured working class township on the Cape Flats and of course of the price they paid for this resistance. But first we take you to the vast townships of the Vaal Triangle, the industrial wasteland between Vanderbijlpark, Vereeniging and Sasolburg. The names Sharpeville and Boipatong are an indelible part of our sad history. | Full Transcript |
