Time | Summary | | 00:27 | Welcome to the Special Report on the Truth and Reconciliation process. It is Monday morning; this is Mayfair, in the heart of Johannesburg. This is where Winnie Madikizela-Mandela will face the Truth Commission this week. It is likely to be the most crucial week of her entire life. She’s the focal point of a special hearing into the activities of her Mandela United Football Club in Soweto in the late 1980s. Already a large number of foreign journalists have gathered here. To them, this is a sensational event, something like the OJ Simpson case. But to us South Africans this is a rather sad occasion. We’ll be turning the pages of one of the most shameful chapters of our struggle against apartheid. The central figure in this saga was once a brave and proud symbol against repression.
