The sequence of events that led to the killings are still unclear. According to the applicants it was sparked off by the discovery of the dead body of Bulelwa Ziwane and the murder of SDU commander, Jackson Kiyana. Ziwane was a member of the Kathlehong Civic Orginasation and a SDU supporter. Kiyana, better known as commander Blanko, was burnt in his shack and shot to death.
