Winnie and the football club were now under close scrutiny. In mid February 1989 the police raided Winnie’s house and arrested Jerry Richardson, her chief bodyguard, for the murder of Stompie Moketsi. Richardson was tried, found guilty and sentenced to death commuted to life imprisonment.
