Her home was destroyed in an arson attack by UDF supporters in Kwa-Mandlenkosi, Beaufort West, Cape, on 25 January 1985. Three days earlier, a UDF organiser had been shot dead by police, leading to an eruption of unrest and attacks on perceived collaborators in the township. Her two children were stoned and injured in the attack.
