The incident took place as ANC supporters were returning from a rally in the area. | References | BROOKS, Alan Keith | | A member of the African Resistance Movement who was detained on 4 July 1964 and held for several months in solitary confinement in Cape Town. During his detention he was severely beaten by named Security Branch members at Caledon Square police station. He was convicted of sabotage and served two years of a five-year prison sentence. | References | BROWN, Leonard | | A member of the Brits Action Committee who suffered damage to property on 27 May 1986 when his family home was bombed by a covert unit of the Northern Transvaal Security Branch in Oukasie, Brits, Transvaal. No one was injured in the attack, although eight family members were in the house at the time. At least 20 people were killed, and many more injured in the shooting. During his period of employment at the Witbank Hospital in the Transvaal he illegally supplied food to children injured during the Soweto uprising. | References | BUKA, Alfred Zakade | 54 | Was charged in 1986 with aiding and abetting terrorists in Umtata, Transkei. He was convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison, and was released in 1989.
