One of ten students arrested at a rally in Athlone, Cape Town, on 17 September 1985, and detained for twenty four hours at the Brackenfell police station. During his arrest, detention and interrogation he was severely beaten, suffocated and forced to perform physical exercises for several hours by named and other members of the SAP.
