Her home was burnt down in Mpumalanga, KwaZulu, near Durban, on 13 February 1990 during violent conflict between Inkatha and UDF supporters following the mass funeral of several UDF supporters in the area. Ten people, including a member of the SAP, were killed in the week-long conflict. An amnesty application was received.
