Was stabbed to death by IFP-supporting hostel-dwellers in September 1991 in Bruntville, near Mooi River, Natal, while walking past a hostel towards the taxi rank. Hostilities between hostel-dwellers and township residents frequently resulted in violent conflict in Bruntville. See Bruntville attacks.
