Was shot and severely injured in the arm and stomach by members of the SAP in Meadowlands, Soweto, on 14 September 1977 during conflict between students and police. Ms Masilwane was nine months pregnant when she was caught in the crossfire. She was placed under police guard in hospital. Her baby, born by caesarean section, had been injured on his shoulder during the attack.
