Was injured when he was stabbed with a sharp object by unidentified attackers on a train between Kwesine and Katlehong stations, in Katlehong, Transvaal, in March 1992. Passengers in the adjacent coach were singing freedom songs when the shooting began. The attackers then entered Mr Mkumatela`s coach. See train violence.
