Was detained and beaten after police opened fire on a crowd gathered to protest against police brutality at City Rocks Stadium, Winterveld, Bophuthatswana on 26 March 1986. Eleven people were killed and 200 injured when a member of the Bophuthatswana police gave a command to open fire. See City Rocks shooting.
