Was shot dead on 11 September 1992, when unidentified gunmen accompanied by members of the KwaZulu Police attacked the ANC-supporting Mpanza family at Kwa-Dlangezwa, KwaZulu, near Empangeni, Natal, in ongoing political conflict in the area. Five people were killed in the attack, and the house was set on fire.
