He had his house burnt down by IFP supporters in KwaMbonambi, KwaZulu, near Richards Bay, Natal, on 24 March 1994 in political conflict between ANC and IFP supporters in the run-up to the April 1994 elections. His two sisters and brother were shot and stabbed to death in the attack.
