Was shot and tortured by various methods while in detention in King William’s Town, Cape, in April 1963. He and other PAC members were marching to the King William’s Town police station to free their ‘comrades’ when named members of the SAP and Ciskei Police arrested and assaulted him. Mr Nongena was imprisoned on Robben Island from 8 October 1963 and released on 8 October 1975.
