Was sjambokked, hit with batons and rifle butts all over his body by named SAP members in Khutsong, Carletonville, Tvl, on 5 July 1986 during a night vigil of a political activist. The state of emergency prohibited political gatherings and members of the SAP and SADF surrounded the tent before entering and severely beating people. Mr Ratladi suffered permanent damage to his eye as a result of the attack.
