A-Team (Chesterville, Durban)

Explanation
The Chesterville A-Team, a state-sponsored vigilante group composed of Inkatha supporters, was set up by the Security Branch in 1985 in Chesterville, Durban, to counter the activities of the UDF, COSAS and other civic organisations in the area. Political tensions between UDF supporters and members of the Chesterville A-Team frequently resulted in attacks against UDF and ANC supporters.

So therefore Mr Nortje, the conclusion is that Gen Engelbrecht says he, just like other people, was misled by your team at Vlakplaas as to the true facts.
MR LAMEY: And during the team-building function which was held at Island Rock, you were transferred back to C1 under instruction of Brig Schoon.
Mr Mohale had already made those statements, he implicated me in Mr Songo's case, he implicated Mr Radebe and Mr Thwala in Mr Namane's case. How on earth could we have been able, even if we had the best legal team in the world, I don't think we would have succeeded to try and twist these things ...
MR RAS: No, I didn't make a statement in the case against him. Afterwards I went to the special investigating team and said I would make a full disclosure but in his case I didn't testify.
DR MYBURGH: I was just one of a team that have grown to a size of about 35 people of the Mpiliswane Saca Clinic in Crossroads, a Clinic that ran from 1980 until its demise in 1986.
MR FORTUIN: Is there anyone that you are going to call to confirm that you were a member of the Task Team of the PAC?
MR RAUTENBACH: Mr Chairman, the second point I would just like to raise was, fortunately this one doesn’t call for a ruling of any nature, is that I just want to place it on record that the family intends to call the witness who has been referred to as Bheki Nkosi. I have already made arrangements ...
MR MAMASELA: I went with the Special Investigation team of the Attorney General, that was the first and the last time I ever went there, I never went there again.
MR WILLIAMSON: No, Mr Chairman, it isn't incorrect. As I have already said about the so-called final briefing, it was not merely a final briefing in that everybody sat and heard everything. We were gathered in a flat and there were various discussions, there was a briefing by the Brigadier and as ...
ADV STEENKAMP: Madam Chair, maybe I must just, just for your information just put the following on record regarding this specific incident. I'm talking about now the incident of the so-called Dube and Umzimhlope Hostels. Now in this incident no information whatsoever about the incident itself ...
MR LUTHULI: When I arrived at Nkosi Nqobo, I found a team that had been sent from Ulundi, it was headed by Nkosi Kaula. There was also another hit squad, headed by Captain Hlengwa of the KwaZulu Police that we already found in the area.
They put me in solitary confinement for three consecutive days. The team of warrant officer Chibambo, Noqi Tsahoge, Constable Tsahoge, this was the team which used to come to my cell and start torturing me.
MR RAS: Chairperson, when I made the statement I was one of the first who made a statement with the investigating team and I cannot recall specifically. At that stage persons entered my memory and I may have been mistaken regarding Snor Vermeulen, Dawid Britz, Blackie Swart and Sakkie Morkel. The ...
This is the first time as it were, in a session of this kind I wanted to express congratulations to Max du Preez's team, TV team, and Antjie Samuels radio team on winning the Pringle Awards - richly deserved accolades.
First Applicant was stationed at the Security Branch at Northern Transvaal as part of a specially selected team to investigate "unrest crimes."  HE shared an office with Lieut Hechter as this team worked closely with the Security Police.  He was told that a petrol station in KwaNdebele must ...
MR HATTINGH: And later, when you made the other statement, was it a statement which you made to the Attorney-General's Investigative Team?
MR VISSER: Chairperson, we would have to speculate, we don't know where he was from, we believe it was the so-called D'Oliviera team, but I don't want to ... But the point is that this conversation took place at, apparently, at CR Swart Square, but even that may be wrong. I don't want to limit it ...
MR MANANA: Well yes, I am opposing the application of the two applicants, because what they have advanced to this Commission is not true, rather the evidence that they have advanced to this Commission is not true. And again, they are my children as well. They were growing in front of me and they ...
CHAIRPERSON: Is there any team which he played for?
MR LAMEY: Yes. Now if that is so Mr Mamasela and if we assume it's correct that this photograph number 13, the room with the rings in it is in the house on photograph number 8 and if we assume that is correct and Mr Mogoai - and if we assume it's correct that Mr Mogoai pointed that house out to ...
