A-Team (Chesterville, Durban)

Explanation
The Chesterville A-Team, a state-sponsored vigilante group composed of Inkatha supporters, was set up by the Security Branch in 1985 in Chesterville, Durban, to counter the activities of the UDF, COSAS and other civic organisations in the area. Political tensions between UDF supporters and members of the Chesterville A-Team frequently resulted in attacks against UDF and ANC supporters.

Mr Chairman, it is my submission that Mr Kloppers has made a full disclosure. He has been frank about the severety of the assault and the way in which it happened. Mr Chairman, I would submit that this assault, although very severe and reprehensible, if one approach, armchair approach to that, ...
MR CORNELIUS: Was there any reason for Mr de Kock and his team to doubt your information or doubt the target which you had identified?
And since that time, when you came to tell us before, our investigating team have been working very hard to try and find out exactly what happened on that day. And we hope that today and tomorrow things will become more clear and you will have answers to some of the questions you have been asking ...
MRS KOKI: There is the true ANC and the false ANC, because there are two sections of the ANC. These two sections, the other section, they do things which we don't understand. It is this section which used to use my child and use me, but they have severed relationships with me. But this other ...
MR LEOPENG: Did you ask the team which abducted him from Swaziland how was his reaction when he was abducted, whether he fought with them, whether he resisted abduction?
MR ERASMUS: He could possibly have been there because he was the head of the demolitions team.
ADV DE JAGER: Could I say that in the past we had the Ngo matter where the Investigation Team couldn't find any documents and the private attorneys appearing for people got hold of those documents within three hours by going to the police station and asking for it, here in Mamelodi actually.
As the time went by we stayed at home. We did not isolate ourselves from the people, we were amongst the people in every activity in Cookhouse. I did not belong to any other member, but what, the organisation I belonged to was the Resident's Organisation. We were playing rugby together with the ...
The PE Group's applications mainly relate to the abduction in Port Elizabeth on the 8 May 1985 and subsequent murder at Cradock of the PEBCO 3 on the 9 or 10 May of the same year. Snyman and Du Plessis were not physically involved in the abduction and murder of the said deceased but, for ...
MISS OOSTHUIZEN: Good morning everyone. As you have already heard I’m Karen Oosthuizen from Clarendon High School and I’m also the Junior Town Clerk of East London. The vision of a reconciled nation is indeed a magnificent one. It is one in which all racial discrimination has been eradicated, ...
MR BOOYENS: You are part of the team investigating the Motherwell bomb, is that correct?
MR WILLS: You met with a special advocate who was attached to the Attorney General's investigative team of Pretoria and you told them all about your incidents in Ermelo and you assisted and are going to be used as a State witness in Ermelo. Is that correct?
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission has four regional offices, one in Cape Town, one in Durban the other in East London and the fourth in Gauteng. As I said, mentioned earlier, the Press, not the national, but even the international Press was there. There was American Press there, a team from the Bostonian Globe, I think, and the Chicago Tribunal or whatever it may be, was there as well. They took photos of this pig in my shop. This was the ...
Our investigative team researched this whole incident to see what we could determine or find out about this incident. It seems that an inquest was held and there are police records which our Investigative team found and it seems as if the police who were involved, that was the Riot Squad. It is ...
MR ROSSOUW: In other words, you were a part of a team of C1, Vlakplaas members which was working in Mafikeng and Mr de Kock was still in Pretoria?
MR VAN HEERDEN: Would you for example, travel around in that area with the family and have a look, or go there with an investigative team?
Two or three days after they had arrived at Josini, Mngomezulu was loaded onto Schoon's bakkie.  He, Pienaar, Willemse, Van Dyk and Schoon left in two vehicles.  He then already knew that Mngomezulu would be eliminated.  They left for Sodwana and travelled south.  They stopped.  He recalls ...
