Special Report Transcript Episode 2, Section 5, Time 08:55The attempted Pollsmoor march to free Mandela on 28 August 1985 ended in mayhem and murder. It was a turning point which unleashed sustained upheaval in the region. Charles Maroti was one of those who went to release Mandela from Pollsmoor. On his return to Gugulethu he was shot and killed while running away from the police. When they were dragging him to the hippo, they finished him off right inside the hippo. The strong policeman did this, this Barnard, yes it was Mr. Barnard.
