On the 27th of April 1993, exactly one year before our first national democratic elections Nohombile Mphambani was killed by these seven youths. They said she was a member of the ADM, supported the tribal system and she was part of a plan to assassinate ANC leaders. // We went to her house. They saw us approaching her house toyi-toying, on the 27th. She ran away with her two children and approached the veld. And we chased after her. // As the youth I was the first one, one of the first ones to get to Mrs. Mphambani. I took stones because I saw the other members throwing stones at her I also picked up stones and started throwing them at her. // She came towards me. I took out a knife and stabbed her. // She had been bleeding. I picked up a stone, threw it at her. It got her at the back of the head, because I was throwing the stone from her back. // I picked up two stones; I hit her twice, on her head and on her chest. She never fell and I picked up another stone and hit her on her head, but she did not fall. I picked up the biggest stone of all the crowd and hit her on her head and she landed on her back side, and that was her final fall.
