The first hearings of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission took place in East London almost exactly one year ago. Let’s examine the Truth Commission process tonight. Is it really fulfilling its mandate of establishing the truth and reconciling the nation? Are we getting bogged down in the detail of who tortured whom and not getting the broad picture of what went wrong in our country the last three decades and why. Are we getting the real culprits to stand up and explain?
