Special Report Transcript Episode 42, Section 1, Time 00:14Hello. Welcome to the Truth Commission Special Report in quite a different format. The first hearings of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission took place in East London almost exactly one year ago. Let’s examine the Truth Commission process tonight. Is it really fulfilling its mandate of establishing the truth and reconciling the nation? Are we getting bogged down in the detail of who tortured whom and not getting the broad picture of what went wrong in our country the last three decades and why. Are we getting the real culprits to stand up and explain? We have three senior spokespersons from the Truth Commission with us tonight who will respond to these and other questions, Dumisa Ntsebeza, head of investigations and commissioner, Fazel Randera, coordinator of the Gauteng region and commissioner and Reverend Xundu of the Reparation and Rehabilitation Committee. To ask the questions on your behalf we have a small group of journalists who specialise in Truth Commission reporting. Welcome to you all.
