An ANC branch chairman who was stabbed to death, and his wife seriously injured, by named IFP supporters at KwaMakhutha, Amanzimtoti, near Durban, on 20 July 1991. Mr Bengu was a member of a Peace Committee facilitating negotiations between the ANC and IFP at the time.
