He disappeared on his way to work in Vosloorus, Transvaal, during a stayaway to protest against IFP violence on 28 March 1994. Mr Bengu was never seen again. Mr Bengu’s car was later found in Natal and three suspects were charged with murder, vehicle theft and kidnapping but were acquitted due to lack of evidence.
