Was seriously injured on 30 September 1993 when the vehicle in which he was travelling was ambushed at Diepdale, near Ermelo, Transvaal. Ten youths were returning from a court appearance in connection with the killing of a local chief when they were attacked, allegedly by the chief’s son and other IFP supporters. Four of the accused were killed and three others injured in this attack.
