A UDF and ANC supporter who was severely tortured by named members of the SAP in Athlone, Cape Town, in November 1985. He was arrested during a march to honour those who were in detention or had died in political conflict.

Riefaat Hattas too was detained and tortured. He still has not come to terms with the experience. // I’m sometimes suicidal. I do not know whether I can carry myself alone. I’m messed up because of what I went through during my high school years.
