Was shot and hacked to death by IFP supporters in Zonkesizwe, near Katlehong, Transvaal, on 29 November 1990. Shack settlements on the East Rand were embroiled in violent conflict with IFP-supporting hostel-dwellers which culminated in the killing of about one hundred people in Zonkesizwe in November 1990. The IFP established a stronghold in Zonkesizwe after more than eleven thousand people were forced to flee the area on 25 November 1990.
