Was shot dead by IFP supporters in Sonkombo, Ndwedwe, KwaZulu, near Durban, on 21 February 1994 in intense political conflict in the area. About twenty deaths of both IFP and ANC supporters were recorded that month, along with at least twenty eight incidents of house-burning. Hundreds of people had to flee the area, and schools and shops were forced to close.
