She lost five teeth and had her jaw broken when she was severely beaten with a rifle butt by a member of the SAP in Ipelegeng, Schweizer Reneke, Transvaal, on 1 August 1990. Ms Koki was erecting shacks in a land occupation during a community rent and consumer boycott.
