Was shot and injured when IFP supporters attacked his home in Matshana, KwaZulu, near Empangeni, Natal, on 24 March 1993, allegedly because members of the family refused to join the IFP. Mr Mabaso lost his sight in one eye as a result of the shooting. His mother survived the attack with stabbing and gunshot injuries, while his sister, aged four, was stabbed and severely injured.
