She had her house attacked with gunfire and hand grenades by members of the SAP in March 1989 in Soweto, Johannesburg, during a raid on their house in which her uncle and an MK operative were killed. Police opened fire and threw hand grenades into the house, shattering windowpanes, breaking doors and causing a fire to break out. Several spent cartridges were left at the scene.
