He died after being gang-raped, stabbed, shot and thrown out of a hostel window, allegedly by IFP-supporting hostel-dwellers in Tokoza, Transvaal, on 29 July 1993. Ms Mahlope was abducted with three other girls, two of whom were killed during the incident.
