Description
An ANC member from Orlando, Soweto, Johannesburg, who was arrested in Northern Rhodesia (Zambia) by the British colonial authorities in 1962 and handed back to the South African authorities. Mr Makgothi was detained and subjected to torture. He was sentenced to two years` imprisonment for leaving South Africa illegally, and later to a further six years for offences under the Suppression of Communism Act.
