Was shot dead by members of the IFP-aligned Toaster gang and IFP supporters in Tembisa, Transvaal, on 31 July 1993 during a raid on township residents. The conflict increased when the body of a gang leader was exhumed and allegedly burnt by township residents. Despite a peace pact signed between the IFP and ANC to ensure a second funeral, IFP supporters attacked Tembisa and killed thirty people and injured twenty one others on the day of the funeral.
