He had his home burnt down by IFP supporters at the Geneva settlement, near Bhambayi, near KwaMashu, Durban, in March 1993 in intense political conflict in the area. At least 18 people were killed in political violence in Bhambayi in March 1993. Seventy-five homes were burnt down.
