Description Was beaten in detention by members of the SAP at Bishop Lavis, Cape Town, in 1976, during protests related to the Soweto uprising. She lost her home in KTC, Cape Town, in June 1986 when it was burnt down by Witdoeke vigilantes, acting with the support and sanction of the security forces. Several days later she was severely beaten by police while protesting with other women against the attack.
