Was arrested and beaten by members of the SAP on 25 June 1985 in Duduza, Nigel, Tvl. He had gone to collect the bodies of the youths killed by booby-trapped grenades given to them by Vlakplaas operatives. (See Operation Zero Zero.) The police refused to hand over the bodies, and tear-gassed and arrested people who protested.
