She had her house in KwaDweshula, Port Shepstone, Natal, burnt down by UDF supporters on 2 August 1989 in intensifying political conflict between UDF and Inkatha supporters. The perpetrators first demanded to see her son, an Inkatha supporter, who was not at home. They then set fire to the house.
