He suffered damage to property in 1988 when his homestead in Natal was attacked by Port Natal and Natal Security Branch policemen purporting to be MK operatives. The operation was aimed at giving credibility to an informer. Two Natal and two Port Natal Security Branch operatives were granted amnesty (AC/2001/030).
