She had her house burnt down in Ezakheni, KwaZulu, near Ladysmith, Natal, on 13 July 1993 in continuing political conflict between ANC and IFP supporters. Earlier that day, ANC supporters had allegedly come to fetch her husband for a self-defence training nightcamp. He was later found burnt to death.
