She had her house burnt down by IFP supporters, allegedly assisted by members of the ISU, during intense political conflict at Bhambayi, near KwaMashu, Durban, on 8 September 1993. About 22 deaths and 19 injuries in 14 incidents of political violence were recorded in the area for September 1993.
