Was severely beaten while in detention by members of the SAP in September 1977 in Port Elizabeth. He had been a rrested at a gathering in St Stephen’s Hall, New Brighton, Port Elizabeth, following the funeral of Steve Biko. Police threw teargas through the windows, and a rrested and beat people present at the meeting.
