Description
An ANC member who was detained in Durban on 7 December 1977 and held in solitary confinement for six months in terms of the Terrorism Act. He was severely tortured, and hospitalised as a result. The Supreme Court issued a restraining order prohibiting the Security Branch from continuing to assault him. In December 1979, he was convicted of political offences and sentenced to five years, which he served on Robben Island. In January 1987, he was again detained under the Internal Security Act, and charged but acquitted
