Was detained in Nyanga, Cape Town, and severely tortured at the Guguletu police station on 26 July 1986, for his alleged involvement in ‘people’s courts’. He was held for fourteen days at Victor Verster prison, Paarl, Cape. During his detention he was taken by police to a beach and tortured again.
