He disappeared in April 1986 while on his way to KwaMakhutha, Amanzimtoti, near Durban. He was never seen again and is presumed dead. Mr Qwabe’s disappearance is believed to be related to the intense fighting at the time between Inkatha supporters and Pondo residents in the area, who were seen to be supportive of the UDF.
