Was tortured and assaulted in detention in Vereeniging, Transvaal, in September 1984. Ms Ramashamola was one of the ‘Sharpeville Six’ sentenced to death for the murder of a township councillor. The six were sentenced to death, but their sentences were commuted after an international campaign for clemency.
